Is it an offering or a collection?
Tonight my new minister mentioned a great point about the segment of a church service when people give money.
He said that the offering is a time when a believer offers to God gifts in gratitude of what he has been given.
Meanwhile, a collection implies a taking of something owed, like a tax or a duty.
In the context of a church service, an offering is a far superior term for what goes on when you part with your cash.
