The word if sends a powerful message.

Why?

Because it shows that you don't presume.

You don't presume that everyone is a regular...
You don't presume that everyone is identical...
You don't presume that everyone is in total agreement with what you're saying...

All because you use the two little letters which should be said, repeatedly, from the front of the church.
