Putting your kids in the right place so they can see the right thing

If I was right in this post that, in youngsters, faith is more “caught than taught”, then this should have some serious consequences.

For starters, what kind of faith are you exposing them to?

What kind of believers are you letting the, interact with?

What kind of teaching are you allowing them to be exposed to?

How much value do you put on the leadership of the youth programs of your church?

How highly do you value character of the youth leaders over competence?

The reason this matters, ultimately, is that this concept should make all parents look around.

Do they like what they see at church?

Hopefully, they see a place who reflect a faith that they want to cultivate within their children.

Better yet, they see a people who reflect a faith they want to develop within their children.

So, the challenge/opportunity for parents is to purposely expose their kids to the people of faith. Passionate people. Wise people. Hospitable people. Respectable people.

For, if these people are committed, calm and welcoming to their offspring, then this will place them in a position to see the kind of discipleship we want to emulate.

The bottom line is, you need to put your kids in the right places.

You need to put your children the presence of the kind of Christians whom your they will like and respect enough to want to catch what they are seeing.
